Tips, Tools and Hints
Efficiency. That is the word that best describes my cooking style. I am not a huge fan of cooking (shocker, I know) but the people in my house swear they need to eat every day. every. single. day. The nerve of them, right? So, if I have to cook, I may as well get some help. Here are 3 of my MUST have recipe helpers.
Time saving tip #1
Frozen chopped onions! This is #1 because it is my most used of the 3. I mean pretty much 2-3 times a week, I break these out and we have a party. They are real onions, already peeled and chopped for you. WHO in their right mind would chop an onion if they don’t have to? Seriously, save yourself the cry fest and stock up on these. One bag cost the same as a whole onion. No brainer! Get some!
Time saving tip #2
A close relative to onions…..well maybe a 2nd cousin by marriage, once removed, but still in the flavor family.
Frozen chopped peppers!
If you can save 2.4124 minutes by using these instead of chopping up a fresh pepper, then why wouldn’t you? Now, I would not go putting these in a salad but for any dish that is cooked, they work. Perfect for soups and casseroles.
Time saving tip #3
Frozen rice steamers! I do not always use frozen rice but they work well on busy weeks. A few minutes in the microwave and BOOM, rice is ready. Easy! Watch for sales and stock up.
There you have it. My top 3 most used recipe helpers, straight from the freezer. These are used all the time in my meal plans. You can of course, opt for fresh in any of my recipes, just know it may increase your prep or cook time.
