I love a big pot of cowboy beans in the fall (or even winter)! These Instant Pot cowboy beans have a little kick, with some added hot sauce, and cook up super fast! One of the benefits of using an Instant Pot is that you can cook from start to finish in one pot. The less dishes, the better!
If you are new to the Instant Pot, this Instant Pot cowboy beans recipe would be an easy one to put it to use!
Instant Pot Cowboy Beans
To begin making the Instant Pot cowboy beans, press the sauté button. Remember there are 3 heat settings for sauté (less, normal, and more): the middle or high setting would be the right one for this job. Having the ability to sauté in the Instant Pot is one of my favorite features.
Add the olive oil, garlic, and onions once the pot is hot. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the garlic is fragrant.
Next, add the ground beef and cook until browned. If you are not using lean ground beef, you will need to drain the extra liquid after it is browned.
Now turn off the Instant Pot and add the hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup.
Then, add in your favorite BBQ sauce.
Once all of those yummy flavors have been added, it is time to throw in the beans. There is no need to drain the beans for this Instant Pot cowboy beans recipe.
Give it a good stir!
It is time for the Instant Pot to do its magic! Close and lock the lid and make sure the venting knob is closed off (sealing). Using the manual mode, set the instant pot to 10 minutes.
After the timer runs out, allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes. Turn the sealing knob to vent and allow the rest of the pressure to release.
Now that was easy! Instant pot cowboy beans in about 30 minutes! Garnish with cheese and jalapeños, if you would like. Serve it up with some cornbread and you will have a delicious meal.
