Ingredients

Prep
  • 31 oz black beans drained and rinsed
  • 2 C frozen chopped onions & peppers
  • 3 t minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 t cumin
  • 1 t chili powder
  • 1/2 C whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 2 egg
  • 1 T Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 T barbecue sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
On Cooking Day
  • 6 whole wheat buns
  • Burger toppings (lettuce tomato, pickles, onions)
  • 16 oz baby carrots
  • 1 lb red grapes

Instructions

To Assemble
  1. Drain, rinse, and pat beans dry. Add to a large bowl, and mash beans being sure to leave some texture.
  2. Add the next 9 ingredients to the bowl and stir well to combine.
  3. Form the bean mixture into patties, and store in a large container with a lid using parchment paper to separate any layers.
To Cook
  1. Place patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes per side. Serve on buns, with carrots, grapes, and burger toppings as desired.
