Save money by making your sandwiches at home! Sandwich chains are popping up all over. You can feed 6 people hearty sandwiches for less than $11.00! Freeze in batches for a quick weekend lunch!
Assembly line your sandwiches.
I put cheese on both sides of the bread so they hold together after cooked.
If making ahead, store in a large zipper bag. I used the bag the bread came in. Keep in the refrigerator until ready to cook.
I can fit 3 large sandwiches at a time on my George Foreman Grill. It only takes 3 minutes to cook!
Make sure to use cooking spray!
Here is the cost breakdown of my 6 sandwiches:
$1.00 5 large sandwich rolls (Check your deli area. These were loose in a big bin)
$8.00 3/4 lb good quality deli sliced beef
$1.00 4-6 slices provolone cheese
$.25 banana peppers
$.50 Zesty Italian dressing for dipping
Total: $10.75 for 6 sandwiches!
You can find these cute burger baskets and paper liners Here, Here, Ebay or any restaurant supply store.

Can these be made ahead and frozen?
Hello. First, I have to let you know that I la-la-love the 5 dinners in one hour plan! My family has really enjoyed everything that we have tried so far, and I couldn't be happier with only cooking once a week! I have a question about week 3 of the April menu. For the Tortellini salad, are the vegetables raw? I've never heard of eating zucchini or yellow squash raw so I wanted to double check.
Thanks!!
~April~
Hi April! Yes they are raw. I eat them raw all the time however, they will soften some in the marinade of the salad. You can always dice them into smaller than bite size too. :)
Yes you can!
Thank you so much! We're having it tomorrow! :)
The Totellini Salad was a huge hit! Delicious! :)
