Easy Spaghetti and Meatballs

I read this recipe online and did not believe it could be done. I tried it and just learned a whole new way to make pasta without boiling water!!   Oh the possibilities!

The ingredients-
1 lb frozen meatballs
12 oz dry spaghetti noodles
28 oz jar spaghetti sauce
1/2 jar (the sauce jar) of water

Break noodles and place in bottom of slow cooker.  I broke mine in half.

Pour in sauce and 1/2 a jar filled with water over noodles.  I added a tiny bit of olive oil to keep the noodles from sticking together.

Top with frozen meatballs.

Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours.  Stir it 1/2 way through if you can but you don’t have to.

By the way this is my new slow cooker and I LOVE it!  It does not heat up the kitchen and the insert is metal with a non stick coating and so much easier to clean!  I got it a WalMart for $39.

Here is how it turned out……..

It was PERFECT!

I do recommend saving some of the sauce for serving if you like your spaghetti extra saucy. :)

All of these ingredients can be kept on hand for a quick last minute throw together dinner.

Oh my! I am in shock too that you could do this in the crockpot! That is crazy easy!!! My hubby is not a fan of spaghetti but of course the kids love it!

  2. I just made Lasagna without boiling them first, I was so happy when it worked. I have to use gluten free pasta which can be tricky to work with. So I was thrilled when I didn't have to boil it cause I hate that and my family can have their favorite meal again

@Ashley…Just wait until you see how easy that slow cooker is to clean! It rocks!

  5. I love getting recommendations for crockpots. I have 3, 1 I got when I was married 12 years ago, 1 passed down from my grandma and one I got from a cheap end store, so needless to say any could go at any time, lol!!!! Just might need to go get this one to have on hand just in case, lol

Hey Michelle! I want to try this next week, but wondered how you would prep ahead? Could you put all those ingredients in a ziploc? Or should I just do it the day of? It's not like it's hard, lol, but I am so in the groove of prepping everything ahead! :)

There is no need to prep ahead. You can break the noodles up ahead of time. :)

I have been making it this way for years now. It is pretty cool right?!?!?! To us, it resembles chef canned spaghetti. We love to do this before we had out to church so a fresh made meal is ready for when we return. Bread in the breadmaker, spaghetti in the crock.

  9. Just curious…. What is the longest you’ve left this dish in the crock pot? I am definitely looking to make our weeknights easier. We are usually gone 12 hrs each day and wonder if this is too long to leave food in the pot.

You could wait to put the noodles in about 30 minutes before you want to eat so they do not turn into one big noodle ball. :)

You should just buy a timer that your crockpot plugs into so it comes on when you want. I have them for lamps in my house as well as outdoor lighting. They are great.

  10. I’ve done sauce many times but never with the noodles. Can’t wait to try this.

Do I cook it on high, med, or low? I am doing 4 jars of sauce and 3 packages of noodles. How long do I need to cook it?
