Slow Cooker Ham and Cheese Melts – C

Ingredients

Prep
  • 1 whole artisan loaf bread large
  • 1/2 lb deli sliced ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 onion small
  • 1 jar mild banana pepper rings
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 t Italian seasoning
On Cooking Day
  • 1 pkg frozen french fries
  • 1/4 C water
  • 1 T olive oil

Instructions

To Assemble
  1. Slice bread 12 times. Do not slice completely through the bread. Leave a small amount unsliced at the bottom of the loaf to keep the sandwiches together.
  2. Thinly slice onion. Lay desired amount of peppers on a paper towel to dry.
  3. On countertop, layer cheese and slices of ham or turkey, then add banana peppers and onion slices. Sprinkle with Italian Seasoning and salt and pepper. Place each layer in between two slices of bread.
  4. Wrap entire loaf tightly in foil.
To Cook
  1. Ball up a few pieces of aluminum foil and place in the bottom of the crockpot to keep your bread up off the top of the slow cooker. Add 1/4 cup water to the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Put the loaf on top of foil and cook on low for 4 hours. Drizzle with oil and slice to serve.
  3. Cook fries according to package directions.
