Baked Italian Sandwiches – C
side salad and strawberries

Ingredients

Prep
  • 1 french bread loaf
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 C milk
  • 1 C bread crumbs
  • 1 T Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 C grated Parmesan cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/2 lb deli sliced ham
  • 1/2 lb deli sliced turkey
On Cooking Day
  • 4 T butter
  • 6 C salad greens
  • 1 lb fresh strawberries

Instructions

To Assemble
  1. Cut French loaf bread into thick slices.
  2. Mix egg and milk in shallow bowl.
  3. Mix bread crumbs, parmesan, and Italian Seasoning in separate shallow bowl.
  4. Dip each slice of bread into egg mixture (don’t let it soak for too long), then into bread crumb mixture.
  5. Place bread for bottom half of sandwiches into a storage container.
  6. Layer cheese and meats on top of bottom bread slices. Top with top bread slices and cover until cooking day.
To Cook
  1. Place butter at the bottom of a sheet pan (with edges) or large casserole dish.
  2. Place in oven at 425 and let butter melt. Add sandwiches to buttered pan and cook for 5 minutes, then flip sandwiches over and cook for another 5-10 minutes (until heated through).
  3. Serve with side salad and strawberries.
