I decided to compare how we used to eat with how we eat now using the 5 dinners in ONE hour plan. We used to eat at least 2 fast food dinners a week and I would cook or make frozen pizza the other nights. I know, not so healthy but that was reality.
Before using this plan I threw away and wasted so much money food because I was so unorganized. I would buy groceries at the grocery store (usually without a plan or list), not always have time to cook, the food would go bad and I would end up throwing it away. To sum it up, we were eating “bad for you food” and throwing away alot of “good for you food”.
Fast food for a family of 5 is not cheap! It costs $25-$32 on ONE fast food meal for all 5 of us. Of course I would force the dollar menu on everyone at least once a week and we would still spend $18-$20 for greasy food! Not to mention the 20 minutes it would take to go get it.
Since I have been cooking 5 dinner in ONE hour, I have seen a big drop in the food bill at our house. My grocery bill (for the dinners) is on average $50-$60 per week which works out to about $10-$12 per dinner and no grease! Saving money is great but feeding my family a healthy dinner every weeknight is priceless!
