It all starts when I get home from the grocery store. I do not put everything in the pantry (that would just cost me time later trying to search for ingredients).
I put all the non perishable items on this tray as soon as I get home from the store. You know the kind you only get out for parties or holidays? This one used to only see the light of day 2 times a year. You could even use a large baking sheet. Even if it has a Christmas tree on it, it will work.
Now if you are a super neat freak, this may not work for you. I don’t happen to mind this sitting out for a day or two. I use my same shelf in the refrigerator that I keep my 5 meals on to put the perishables so they are easy to find when it is time to cook.
The next step is to make sure you get everything out needed on the kitchen tools list which located on the same page as the grocery list. This usually takes me about 5 minutes.
While I get out tools my kitchen sink is filling with hot soapy water. Ok sometimes the sink is full of dirty dishes and I use a big bowl instead. You just need a place to toss dirty utensils so you can give them a quick rinse to use again if needed.
